Recently, TallTrees Leadership® had the pleasure of working with the newly opened Owerko Centre at the Alberta Children’s Hospital Research Institute. This research space at the University of Calgary is dedicated to studying neurodevelopment and child mental health, including disorders such as attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADD/ADHD) and autism spectrum. The centre will be home to researchers, clinician scientists and staff collaborating to better understand, diagnose and treat these conditions.

TallTrees Leadership® led the visioning process for the Owerko Centre during the first ACHRI Neurodevelopment and Child Mental Health Conference. The facilitated visioning session during the conference enabled participants to be engaged and enthusiastic partners in the development of the Centre’s vision, mission, and values. Using a World Cafe format, and a foundation of Appreciative Inquiry, we elicited the stakeholder perspective and investment needed to move forward with the creation of the Centre’s vision, mission, and values. Carol Gray of TallTrees LeadershipTM commented,“It was a pleasure to facilitate this visioning process. The buzz from all the table group discussions was palpable. Participants were very engaged in providing their perspectives about key components to be considered in the further development of the new Owerko Centre.”

During our time with the participants, we discovered, from their stories, values and experiences, the ingredients that will serve as building blocks for igniting and launching the Owerko Centre at the Alberta Children’s Hospital Research Institute. We look forward to our continued partnership with the Owerko Centre, and are honoured to be part of this exciting, and critically important, research institute.
